Visual and Textual Experience

Art and visual design have always piqued my interest, so in the spring of 2022, I took a class in graphic design in addition to my English studies courses. As an English major, I spend a lot of time organizing words and information within a body of text or on an interactive interface. In graphic design, I learned how to incorporate my informational organization skills with visual aesthetics and user experience to create informational and appealing graphics.

In this course, I used and became proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and manual typography printing presses.

Beverage Brand Project

In my favorite and final project from this course, we were assigned to create assets for a beverage brand of our choice.

After choosing the type of beverage I wanted to create a brand for - Kombucha, a carbonated probiotic drink - and doing research about it, I created a mood board on Illustrator involving the brand colors, font, keywords, and visual elements that we envisioned for the final product.

Next, I sketched and built out the logo for my brand through a rigorous design process using Illustrator and Photoshop. I traced the letter shape for ANJA on Illustrator and placed the design shapes behind it
Lastly, I put the logo and brand elements together on a 3D model of the beverage using Illustrator and Photoshop to create the final product. I organized the brand elements like the green leaf shape, alternate orientations of the logo, and keywords and brand phrases.
